Virginia May Burrow
January 14, 1933 – October 31, 2025

Services for Virginia May Burrow will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Jamesport United Methodist Church, under the direction of Pastor Mike Tipton.

Virginia was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, neighbor, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born on January 14, 1933, in rural Audubon, Iowa, Virginia was the daughter of Joseph LaVern and Nellie (Siemsen) Farley. She graduated from Audubon High School in 1950, attended college in Indianola, Iowa, and later graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines.

Her professional life was devoted to nursing and caring for others. She began her career at Mercy Hospital, the Veterans Hospital, and Broadlawns Hospital, all in Des Moines. The majority of her career was spent at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, Missouri, where she served for 32 years as Shift Supervisor, Director of Nurses, Surgical Head Nurse, and Home Health Nurse before retiring in 1997. In recognition of her dedication, Virginia received a Gold Certificate from the Missouri State Board of Nursing, commemorating 50 years of service as a Registered Professional Nurse.

On November 29, 1952, Virginia was united in marriage to James Burrow in Princeton, Missouri. Together they made their home in Des Moines, Chillicothe, and Columbia, before settling in Jamesport.

They were blessed with four children:
• Brad (Juanita) of Cupertino, California
• Mark (Cathy) of Shell Knob, Missouri
• Marta Lawson (Bill) of Kearney, Missouri
• Todd (Connie) of Liberty, Missouri

Virginia was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She dearly loved her family, her church, her neighbors, and her profession. Virginia approached life with energy, compassion, and joy—always wishing for more hours in the day to do all that she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, her brother Gerald, and her great-grandson Theodore. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings:
Caroline (Gene) Young of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
Charlotte (Dick) Millhollin of Apache Junction, Arizona;
Cloid (Faye) Farley of Elkhorn, Iowa; and
Jerry (Barb) Farley of Neola, Iowa;
along with many nieces and nephews.

Virginia’s warmth, kindness, and love of life will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Memorials to Jamesport United Methodist Church and may be left with Slater-Neal Funeral Home, Trenton, Missouri.
