Terry McCollum

Mr. Terry McCollum, 67, a resident of Trenton, Missouri died at 3:17 P.M., Friday, July 12, 2024 at St. Luke’s on the Plaza, Kansas City, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Trenton, Missouri.

Open visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Slater-Neal Funeral Home, Trenton.

Mr. McCollum was born April 26, 1957 at Trenton, Missouri the son of Clarence L. and Ruth Marie Marrs McCollum. He graduated from Trenton High School, and then graduated from Central Missouri University, Warrensburg, Missouri and then the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri with a Master’s in Education. Terry was the head Men’s Varsity Basketball Coach for Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri before returning to Trenton to coach at his Alma Mater. He was the head Varsity Basketball Coach as well as instructor at Trenton High School; and also at Glasgow High School in Glasgow, Missouri and Tri-County High School of Jamesport, Missouri. Terry assisted in coaching youth summer basketball camps at the University of Minnesota and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill under Kenny Smith. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting, was an avid sports fan and history buff.

His survivors include his mother Ruth Marrs McCollum, Trenton, Missouri; two daughters Chelsea (Mason) Hilsabeck, Marathon, Florida, Karley (Preston) Dufur, Glenwood, Missouri; Karley and Chelsea’s mother Karla Weilbrenner McCollum, Ankeny, Iowa; granddaughter Kolbi Jo Dufur and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Dora Ellis (Cecil Ellis) and Roy McCollum, maternal grandparents Wilford and Edna Marrs, father Clarence McCollum, one granddaughter Jolene Faith Dufur, Special Cousin Howie Lynch.
