Roger Dean Cooper, 81, of Humphreys, Missouri, passed away peacefully at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cameron.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Haseville Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Friday evening, September 5, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Memorial contributions are suggested to Haseville Cemetery and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Roger was born October 4, 1943, in Humphreys, Missouri, the son of Harold and Dorothy Mae (Phillips) Cooper. He graduated from Humphreys High School and went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Combat Medic from November 2, 1966, until October 25, 1968. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and had numerous Sharp Shooting Awards.
On March 24, 1977, Roger was united in marriage to LaDonna Jean (Bowersox) Cooper in Edinburg, Missouri. They shared nearly 30 years together until her passing on October 24, 2006.
Roger worked for Trenton Foods for several years before beginning a long career with Modine Manufacturing, where he retired after more than three decades of dedicated service. Despite his time in the factory, Roger always considered himself a farmer at heart. His love of the land and hard work defined much of his life.
He is survived by two daughters, Nikie and husband Mike Hyer of Trenton, and Mindy and husband Greg Lentz of Humphreys; ten grandchildren, Kayla, Alyssa, Maleah, John, Theresa, Jude, Joseph, Regina, Lucy, and David; one grandson-in-law, Lance Horton; his sister, Mary Grothe and husband Larry of Chula, Missouri;and sister-in-law Doris Cooper and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will cherish his memory.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanie; one brother Vernon Cooper; and three sisters Phylis Forson, Karen Devore and Joan Stinette.
Roger will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His quiet strength and deep love for his family left a lasting legacy in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
