Raymah Smith Obituary

Raymah Lee (Searcy) Smith, a 94-year-old long time resident of Galt, MO passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 4, 2024.

Visitation to be held from 6:00-7:30 P.M. Friday at the Galt Christian Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Church. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton. The family will be at the home of Steven and Shelly Smith.

Raymah was born May 20, 1929, in Laredo, MO to Wallace and Lela (Ishmael) Searcy.  She was the fifth of ten children. On February 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to Archie Smith. They resided in Kansas City for five years, before moving to their farm in Galt.  She was the true definition of a “farm wife”, working side by side with her husband milking cows, raising pigs and cattle, and gardening. Raymah was known for being a wonderful cook especially her homemade rolls, noodles, and hummingbird cake.  Raymah was a talented quilter and enjoyed crocheting. You could always find Raymah and Archie sitting on the top row bleachers cheering on their grandchildren at the Grundy R-5 basketball games. Raymah loved the Lord and was a member of the Galt Methodist Church.  

She is survived by daughters, Judy Turner-Schlichting (Melvin) Klemme, IA, Susan Brown-Kuntz (Dennis) Galt, and son, Steven Smith (Shelly) Galt; Grandchildren: Taylor Whipple (Brandon), Jeremy Brown (Katy), John “Jay” Brown, Whitney Trump (Clint), Kala Cummings (Brandon), Randall Gann (Jada), Eric Gann (Jenny), Brooklynn Hamm (Randy), Hannah Walker (Josh), Brennan Walker, Ben Kuntz (Tiffany), Johnathon Kuntz (Nicole), Ryan Schlichting (Sara), Angel Critten (Lance), Lisa Rousch (Tim), and Jason Schlichting (Meghan)

Great Grandchildren:  Khya, Melodie, Maggie, and Carson Whipple, Jax, Slade, Wade and Alivia Brown, Cason and Audrey Trump, Baby Cummings arriving in June, Shandon, Aiden, Destin (Emily), Caden, and Bryson Gann, Aubrey Larson (Mason), Landon, Jaden, Peyton, and Maleigh Hogan, Carlynn Spainhour, Brynleigh and Cooper Griffin, Bentlee, Reagan, Kathern, Ava, Piper, Otto Kuntz, Issac and Lucas Schlichting, Hannah and Leah Critten, Keagan and Lexi Eastman and several great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by one brother, Russell Searcy, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding her in death include her parents, husband, sons-in-laws: Joe Turner and James Brown, and eight siblings: Jenette Norman, Roberta Ishmael, Marion Searcy, Shirley Eller, Evelyn McDaniel, Carolyn Ricket, Junior Searcy, and Gerald Searcy.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Galt Christian Church.
