Nina Faye Johnson, 85, of Trenton was born to Arthur Vance Custer and Dorothy Lavern Nicholson May 30, 1936 at Kirksville. She peacefully passed away at Wright memorial Hospital
on September 17, 2021.
Her body has been cremated under direction of Slater-Neal Funeral Home, Trenton, Missouri. Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at
Resthaven Memorial Gardens north of Trenton, Missouri.
Memorials to Alzheimer’s Association and maybe left with the funeral home.
Nina spent most of her childhood in Greencastle. She graduated from Green City High School in 1954.
Nina and David O. Johnson were married September 30, 1983 at Chillicothe.
Nina loved to sew. She was a professional seamstress and did alterations. She also enjoyed sewing clothing for her family and friends.
Nina started work at Jr Arbuckle’s Maytag store about a year after moving to Trenton in 1964 with her family. She has also worked at Easter's, Rickett’s Fabric Store, Elenore’s Flower
Shop, Gable’s Supper Club and L & L’s Liquor Store until her dream came true when she and David opened Dave’s Used Furniture Store on 17th Street in 1996. She loved going to
rummage sales and to auctions with David to buy unique items for their store.
Nina loved spending time with her family and cooking and baking for them. She especially loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren over to spend the night or a playdate.
Nina is survived by her devoted husband David O. Johnson of the home.
Her three children, Debbie Allen (Keith) of Trenton, Jimmy Bingham (Rose) of Galt and Scott Bingham of Trenton. Six grandchildren, Tracey Landes of Jamesport, Jason Allen of St
Joseph, Jeremy Bingham (Kaylynn) of Brookfield, Jonathan Bingham (Whitney) Chula, Joseph Bingham of Trenton and Stephen Bingham of Tulsa OK. Five great-grandchildren, Tyler Lane
of Overland Park KS, Ami Lane of Lathrop MO, Emily Landes of Jamesport, Grayson Bingham of Chula and Ezekiel Bingham of Tulsa OK. A great-great-grandson Juddson Saling of Lathrop,
MO. A half-sister Robin Condray of Owasso OK. A brother-in-law, Marvin Johnson. And many nieces and nephews including greats.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Virginia (Jenny) Tuttle and her grandparents Nettie and Gail Custer who helped raise her and her sister. And brothers-in-law, Kermit Tuttle, Leonard Johnson, Frank Johnson, Ralph Johnson and Carl Johnson.
