Nellie “Pauline” Vandevender a 94 old Trenton resident passed away on June 1, 2026 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, Missouri.
Mrs. Vandevender was born December 17, 1931 in Mercer County, the daughter of Earl and Nellie McLaughlin Coon. She graduated from Spickard High School in 1950. She was married to Gilbert Vandevender on August 16, 1952 until his passing on May 25, 2016.
She worked alongside her husband on the family farm east of Spickard, Missouri for almost 50 years until they moved to Trenton in 2000. She was well known in the Fairview community for her large garden from which she canned many quarts of vegetables a year.
She is survived by her son Donnie Vandevender; 5 grandchildren, Nathan Vandevender and his wife Kristen, Paul Vandevender and his wife Amanda, Stephanie and her husband Dale Drake, Rachael and her husband Matthew Trostel, and Rebecca Crook and her husband Bridger Egbert; 6 great-grandchildren; Korbin, Ian, Dru and Zoe Vandevender, and Ryan and Alivia Drake; 2- step great-grandchildren, Jayden McClure and Cayson Harper; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter Diana Crook; one infant son, Richard D. Vandevender; one granddaughter, Melinda Crook; 5 brothers, Carl, Woodrow, Garland “Doc”, Frank Coon, one infant brother and one sister, Maxine Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton, Missouri. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton, Missouri.
Family visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers please give memorial donations to the Topsy Cemetery and they can be left at the funeral home.
