Mina Sparks Obituary

Praise God She Is Free;

Mina Ethethleen Sparks earned her wings on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 1:00 P.M., August 11, 2025 at Camp Ground Cemetery east of Osgood, Missouri.

Mina was born January 4, 1925 at the home of parents Carl and Abby Brassfield Shobe at Humphreys, Missouri. Her mother passed away in 1927 leaving Mina to be raised by her father and future step-mother, Ruth Baker Shobe in Humphreys, Missouri. After graduating Galt High School in 1943 she attended college in Columbia, Missouri meeting Glen Sparks the love of her life, they were married in Portland, Oregon on August 16, 1947. Smiling then until the end. After following her husband through his military years they made home in Lees Summit, Missouri. She worked at Unity and Montgomery Ward in Kansas City, Missouri for several years, then she devoted her time to being a loving wife to her devoted husband.

Mina and Sparky traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, California and Colorado, enjoying life together, she learned to play the organ, enjoyed growing flowers at her home and entertaining with her music talents.

Sparky passed away in 1995, shortly thereafter she sold her home and moved to Knox Village, Lee's Summit, Missouri to be next door to her older sister Ruth Shobe Tunnel, then she moved to Carlyle Independent Living Center, Lee's Summit, Missouri.

She was a devoted Christian, always needing her bible near her to read his words.

She leaves behind a sister Doris Shobe Veeder, Tindal, Missouri; several nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Ruth Tunnel, Rosa May Easterday two brothers Ralph Shobe and Robert Shobe.

Many details of Mina’s life are not mentioned only because 100 years of life are hard to summarize in one’s obituary, not because they didn’t matter. You were very loved and will be missed.
