Melvin Conklin Chaffee

Mel Chaffee, an 82 yr old longtime Trenton resident, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 at his residence, where he was under hospice care.

He is to be cremated under the direction of Resthaven Mortuary.  A visitation is scheduled from 10:00am until noon, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Resthaven Mortuary.

Melvin Conklin Chaffee, Jr was born August 6, 1942 in Lawndale, California to Melvin Sr and Helen (Cordray) Chaffee.  On June 1, 1968 he was united in marriage to Judi Chaffee in Chillicothe, MO.  Mel worked for the Rock Island Railroad until it's closing, was a Correctional Officer in Cameron and retired from OATS.

Surviving relatives include his wife Judi Chaffee of the home, daughter Katie Chaffee of Liberty, MO, sister Nora Brouhard of Kirksville, MO, grandsons Chanse (Faith) Houghton of Reeds Spring, MO and Creed (Ally) Houghton of Trenton, MO, and great-granddaughters Pepper Houghton and Claire Houghton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Iris Jacobs and Virginia Jacobs, and in-laws Wilbur and Josephine Shockey.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to the St Lukes Hospice or the Green Hills Animal Shelter.
