Mary Maxine Christy.
Mary Maxine Christy, (Macky), 98, a resident of Humphreys, Missouri a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her son’s home at Humphreys on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 2:04 P.M. at the age of 98 years old.
She was born on the family farm northwest of Laredo, Mo to Bertha Mae (Nichols) & William Clyde Elliott. Her brothers Willie & Meryl (both deceased) were always picking & teasing everyone for laughs. Bonnie was born last at their grandparents house and she was pretty special and still is to this day calling every morning.
The parents later divorced and she was blessed with half-brothers David (deceased) & Dean and a half-sister Carol Jane whom she loved and felt compassion for.
She worked hard on the farm helping with the team of horses and could back them in the barn as good as any of the boys.
As their mom played in dance halls on Saturday nights she met a very handsome guy that captured her heart & soul one evening. At the age of 17 she rode cross country from Missouri to Everett Washington to marry him, Duane Christy, her Navy sailor. He passed away July 11, 2023. Two amazing sons were born from this union, Larry and fiancé Deb, Trenton, Missouri & Gary and wife Barbara, Humphreys, Missouri. (Gloria & Donna both deceased). Also surviving are her five wonderful grandchildren , Eric(Connie), Josh, Holly, Kelli(Donnie), Tyson(Natalie) and five step granddaughters; incredible great grandchildren, and sweet great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Her precious friend Pepsi will never forget her gentle strokes of love and her soft voice talking to her. One blessed & loving family God has joined together.
Macky, as some called her, worked side by side Duane on their family farm. Life wasn’t easy & there weren’t conveniences as we have and are accustomed to today. Electric, Heat, water, Laundry, Ice, are all things we take for granted but she would work hard for such things. She used a cross cut saw with her neighbor and they could lower a timber in no time!
When Gary started school she started working at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital for several years. Then she started working at Banquet Foods and worked there for over 20 years.
A few things your loved one may or may not have told you: She loved you more than
herself. She has watched you while you were sleeping. Every time you were upset, her heart sank. You made her life meaningful & she thought you were one in a million.
And always remember that you are the best thing that ever happened to her.
She was a pillar of strength, love, kindness, and acceptance. She offered wise counsel and a compassionate, listening ear. Remembered for her immense love for her family and children. Her warm heart and kind spirit made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her. While her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created will forever be cherished in our hearts.
