Marian Campbell Obituary

Mrs. Marian Louise Pollock Campbell 95, a resident of Trenton, Missouri died at 12:35 A.M., Monday, September 27, 2021 at Wright Memorial Hospital, Trenton, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 1, 2021 at Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton, Missouri. Burial will be in Stucker Cemetery South of Laredo, Missouri.

Open visitation will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the mortuary.

Memorials to either Show Me Christian Youth Home (Hubble Home), Galt, Missouri or Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch, Shelbina, Missouri and may be left with the mortuary.

Mrs. Campbell was born on March 2, 1926 on the family farm east of Laredo, Missouri, the second daughter of Cecil Ray and Ruby Virginia Pew Pollock.

She attended the Bethel rural school and the Laredo High School graduating in 1943, as valedictorian of her class. Marian attended Summer School at Kirksville State Teachers College, now Truman State University. She took the state teachers exam, and at age 17 taught at the Terry Rural School. She continued study at Kirksville and later took night classes at Trenton Junior College, now NCMC. She taught at the Mt. Pleasant Rural School for four years, and later was a regular substitute at the Pleasant View R-6 School.

Marian married Huel Campbell on April 20, 1947, and they were blessed with three sons, David, Roger and Gordon. In 1949, they moved to the Helmandollar farm south of Trenton. She was a homemaker and a farm wife, working in the field, driving grain trucks to the elevator, and on occasion milking the cows. She planted a big garden and raised chickens, which she shared. In 2006, she moved to an apartment in Trenton, then 2020 she moved to the Sunnyview Apartments.

Marian was a supporter of the 4-H and FFA. In 1981, she received the Outstanding Friend of 4-H award, as well as a 25 year leadership pin. She belonged to the South Side Farm Club and was a Charter member of the Pleasant Center Extension Club. She was a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood for over 75 years.

Marian grew up in the Laredo Christian Church, where she was baptized when she was 10 years old. When Huel and Marian were first married, they were members at Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church. She was a member of Liberty Chapel Christian Church for 57 Years, when it closed, having served as a teacher and assistant pianist. She has attended the Trenton and Laredo Christian Churches since.

She wrote lots of letters and sent cards to many people, young and old. She enjoyed visiting in the nursing homes, and she kept in touch with many of her former students. She was happy when she had her big dining table surrounded by family and friends for a special holiday meal.  The Campbell’s hosted many visiting ministers who came to Liberty Chapel. She took care of her parents and several other family members. She enjoyed taking care of her grandsons, while their mother’s worked and attended their ball games and school activities through the years. She was blessed with many wonderful friends.

She is survived by two sons David Huel Campbell (Marti), Trenton, Roger E. Campbell (Sharla), Laredo; five grandsons Philip (Holly), Lake St. Louis, Mark (Jennifer) Lee’s Summit, Jason, Columbia, Adam (Kayla), Kansas City, Kansas, Ben (Lauren), St. Charles. There are nine great-granddaughters, Emery, Addison, Katelyn, Paige, Hattie, Brynlee, Mckenzie, Laney, and Reagan. A step-great grandson is Landon DeVille. Other step-grandchildren are Stacy Rainey, Weston, Kathy Spencer, Mendon, Bobbi Polk, Spickard, Brandy Hastings, Independence, John Limkemann,Trenton. There are twenty-two step-great grandchildren and six step-great-great grandchildren. Ken Buzbee of Mentor, Ohio is a nephew.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Huel in 2003, her son Gordon Wayne Campbell in 2012, and her sister Evelyn Buzbee in 2002.
