Leroy Ellis, an 85 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 12:35 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Cameron Reginal Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery northeast of Trenton. A visitation is scheduled from 6 until 7 Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Bethel Cemetery and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Gerald Leroy Ellis was born S.E. of Spickard Mo to William Leland Sr. and Martha Jane (Avery) Ellis on January 27, 1939. He grew up with seven siblings and graduated from Galt High School with the class of 1958. From October 12, 1961 through August 24, 1964 he served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. Leroy was employed as a lead man for Trenton Foods, where he retired in 2001. After retiring Leroy and his twin brother Roby decided to start flea marketing. The set up in Rutledge, Colony and Pattonsburg, MO and did to gas and steam shows in 6 different states. They had to quit in 2008 when Roby lost the use of his legs and couldn’t drive anymore. Leroy was an avid reader of western books and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
He is survived by 8 nieces and nephews and a cousin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William Leland Ellis Jr. and Harold Ceasar Roby Ellis, and sisters, Mary Carolyn Lewellen, Margaret Belle Ellis, Phyllis Joan Ellis, Phoebe Joyce Ellis, and Clelda Rose Luzenberg.
