Leona Berniece (Gass) Oneal

Leona Oneal, a 97 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 1:54 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2025 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Grundy Center Church northeast of Trenton.  A visitation will be held from 10 until service time Wednesday morning.  Burial will follow in Grundy Center Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the church and left with or mailed to Slater Neal Funeral Home.

Leona Berniece Oneal was born March 22, 1928 in Grundy County to Clay Ray and Bernice (Brennenstuhl) Gass.  After graduating High School, Leona received a teaching certificate from Trenton Junior College.  On February 24, 1950 she was united in marriage with Howard Eugene Oneal in Long Beach, CA.  Leona was a member of the Grundy Center Church and known as a soldier for the Lord.  She loved to spend as much time as possible with family.

Surviving relatives include her daughter Jackie Gibler and husband Greg, sons Barry Oneal and wife Luanne and Randy Oneal and wife Crystal, all of Trenton; grandchildren Brandon Gibler and wife Christy, Zach Oneal, Levi Oneal and wife Jessica, PJ Oneal, Clay Oneal and wife Courtney, and Abigail Oneal; and great-grandchildren Brice, Kelsey, Kinsley, and Brady Gibler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Von Earl Gass, sister Bonnie Ruth Moore, and grandson Gabe Oneal.
