Leo Joseph Fassnacht Sr., 89, of Trenton, MO passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Sunnyview Nursing Home under Hospice care.
Leo was born January 25, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Cecilia Catherine Fassnacht and Albert Schoen Jr. In 1965 he moved to Gilman City, where he married Anna Darlene Newton, and the couple later settled in Trenton, MO in 1969.
A lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, Leo had a generous spirit and a soft spot for animals — he was well known in his neighborhood for making sure no stray went hungry.
Leo is survived by his daughter, Leona Ricketts (Kirby), of Trenton; his son, Leo Fassnacht Jr., of Liberty, MO; his stepdaughter, Josephine Johnson (Lloyd), of Gilman City, MO; his granddaughter, Amanda Reger (Wes), of Bethany, MO; his grandson, Derek Ricketts, of St. Joseph, MO; three great-granddaughters, Emma, Nola, and Stella; and one sister, Denise Rezendes (Bev), of El Sobrante, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Darlene Fassnacht; his mother, Cecilia Rezendes; and his son, Clinton Jerald Fassnacht.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial at Christian Union Cemetery will be held at a later date under the care of Slater-Neal Funeral Home. No services are scheduled.
