Lannie Harkins, an 83 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 6:36 a.m., Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his residence where he was under hospice care.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 at 2:30 P.M. at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton, Missouri. Burial of cremains will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Trenton, Missouri following Military Graveside services.
Family visitation will be held Friday from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the Mortuary.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Joseph L. Norton V.F.W. Post 919 building fund and may be left with or mailed to the Mortuary.
Lannie L. Harkins was born October 28, 1941 in Trenton to Otto Reid and Rohama Adeline (Adams) Harkins. He graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1959 and received a degree in agribusiness from Trenton Junior college. From August 31, 1961 through August 28, 1964 he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On January 22, 1965 he was united in marriage to Linda Marie Marlay. He was 32 year employee of Hoffman-Reed of Trenton after retirement he loved spending time working in his yard and enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lannie was a passionate member of the V.F.W. and served on their honor team for many years. He was also a longtime member of the LIONS Club was a Master Gardener and served as Scout Master.
Surviving relatives include his wife Linda of the home, sons Michael Harkins of Queen Creek, AZ, and Daniel Harkins of Trenton, a brother Mike Harkins and wife Sonna of Springfield, MO, grandchildren Kyle Harkins and wife Ellen of Excelsior Springs, MO, Jase Harkins of Trenton, and Chloe Dawn Harkins of Kansas City, MO, and great grandchildren Benny and Josie Harkins and by several nieces and nephews.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, a brother Rex Harkins and a sister Vicki Harkins.
