Karen Joan (Johnson) Howe

Karen Howe, an 82 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 10:45 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2025 at Sunnyview Nursing Home after a short battle with cancer.

She is to be cremated under the direction of Slater Neal Funeral Home of Trenton. 

Karen Joan Howe was born June 27, 1943 in Linn County, MO to Merle and Faye (Dotson) Johnson.  She graduated from Meadville High School and then went to beauty school in St. Joseph, MO.  On June 27, 1964 she was united in marriage to Joseph Dale Howe at the Meadville Methodist Church.  Karen owned and operated Karen’s Style Salon in Meadville for many years.  She also worked alongside J.D. on their farm.  Karen was known for her hard work ethics and fearlessness. She even learned to ride dirt bikes with family and friends.  Karen was also a great homemaker sewing outfits, quilting and cooking fantastic meals.

Surviving relatives include her husband J.D. of the home, step son Randall Howe and wife Mary of Spickard, MO, sister Sandra Robbins of Craig, MO, grandchildren; Erica Zang, Eryn Howe, Tyler Anderson and wife Jenny, and Ryley Howe and wife Gracie, and ten great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Barry Lane Howe, brother-in-law Gordon Robbins, grandson-in-law Will Zang, and great grandchildren Nora and Tripp Zang.
