Mrs. Wilford was born on December 19, 1934 in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond J. and Ruby May (Layson) Wallace. On April 8, 1956 she was married to Delvin W. Wilford at Grundy Center United Methodist Church, northeast of Trenton. She earned a Master’s of Elementary Administration Degree and taught at rural schools for twelve years. After retiring, she was enthusiastically involved in the activities of their children and, when their kids were older, she helped her husband with their income tax business.
Jennie was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed supporting the community with her husband by attending and/or assisting with local athletic and musical events, and by volunteering with various civic organizations, such as the Church Women United Thrift Store and the Community Emergency Response Team. Her willingness to lend an ear or offer her often-unique viewpoint, as well as her quirky sense of humor, will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
Jennie is survived by her husband Delvin of the home; daughter Sayla Sherard and husband Vance, Springfield, Missouri; daughter Claren O’Bannon and husband Kevin, Fenton, Missouri; son Greg Wilford and wife Kellie, Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren Graham Sherard, Kate Sherard, Caden O’Bannon, Kyler O’Bannon, and Mason Clark; three step-grandchildren Austin Norris, Katey Halfert and husband Mason, and Emma Owens and husband Kaleb; one great-grandchild, and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents. "
