Mr. Jack Bain, 81, a resident of Trenton, Missouri, died at 7:09 pm., Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 14, 2025, from 2:00-2:30 pm at Slater-Neal Funeral Home, 813 Custer St., Trenton, Missouri. The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life with the family until 4:00 pm.
Mr. Bain was born January 19, 1944, in Brimson, Missouri, the son of Horace Roscoe Bain and Erciel Crigler Bain. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era, specializing in crypto maintenance and stationed at air bases in Texas, Hawaii and South Korea. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1970. He also earned a bachelor’s degree at Northeast Missouri State College and subsequently earned his master’s degree to further his training in high school education.
Jack married Marilyn Jean Woodward on March 30, 1972, at the Edinburg Baptist Church.
Jack dedicated 33 years to educating high school and college students, teaching math in Princeton and Trenton High Schools and NCMC. He continued his support of student education after his retirement by working for NCMC Trio Student Support Services as an academic tutor.
Jack committed his life to his family, his church, and music. He is well-known throughout the region as an accomplished banjo and guitar musician, regularly performing bluegrass and gospel music and sharing his music at church services. He also enjoyed hiking, arrowhead and mushroom hunting, and fishing with his family and friends.
His survivors include his wife Marilyn of the home; two daughters, Lori Bain Kupsky and husband John Andrew (Drew) Kupsky, St. Louis, Missouri, and Kristi Woodward Bain and husband William Chappell, Chicago, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Duane Olive Powell and Norma Jean Allen; and two brothers, Lawrence Bain and Billy Joe Bain.
