Ida Iona (Gardner) Tunnell

Ida Iona Tunnell, a 92 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 3:25 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Pearl’s II Eden for Elders in Princeton.

There will be open viewing Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 8:00 until 5:00 p.m., at Slater Neal Funeral Home of Trenton.  There will be a private burial at a later date.

Ida Iona Tunnell was born May 14, 1928 in Edinburg, MO to Riley and Thelma Juanita (Broyles) Gardner.  On May 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Virgil Tunnell in Galt, MO.  “Iona” as she was better known worked at Trenton Foods for many years.

Surviving relatives include her son Marvin Tunnell, brothers Glenn Gardner of Choctaw, OK, and Les Gardner and wife Betty of Midwest City, OK, sisters Mavis Edmonds of Spartanburg, SC, Vivian Ruhl and husband Norman of Yernington, NV, Thelma Ellis of Trenton, MO, and Faye Tew of Dothan, AL, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, and a brother
