George Gott, an 83 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 8:10 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the V.A. Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Slater Neal Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will follow in Edinburg Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 until 7:00 Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Kansas City V.A. Chaplin’s Services for Comfort Carts.
George Gott was born October 27, 1941 in Brimson, MO to Albert Earl and Ethel Lafayette (Corn) Gott. He grew up in the Brimson area. On July 22, 1961 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Stanturf at Tenth Street Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2008. George worked doing concrete work and served as the Trenton Dog Catcher. He was a jokester always playing jokes on kids and grandkids, and was gamer and very competitive with his grandsons. George was a very big boxing fan and enjoyed racing his stock cars through the years at Trenton and Jamesport. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying mushroom hunting, deer hunting and fishing. He shared life stories and lessons and wisdom with his family and his door was always open for all of his grandkids no matter what time. He served in the United States Army serving in Germany part of that time.
Surviving relatives include his children, Billy Gott of Trenton, Becky Gott and husband Ronald of Amite, LA, Teresa Coltrain and husband Bob of Trenton, and Bobbie Jo DeVaul of Maryville, MO, sister, Diana Mendoza, sister-in-laws, Nina and Norma Gott, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughters Debbie Harding and Bonita Rodgers, sister Jean Shaw, brothers Bill and Earl Gott, grandson Justin McKnight, and great grandson Luke Lundy.
