He served on the Madison Township Board, Grundy County Rural Fire Department, and enjoyed volunteering at the Church Women United Thrift Store.

His greatest joy was spending time on the farm with his grandsons and great grandchildren; teaching them about life on the farm and honing their hunting skills. He was a scout leader for Troop 97 and loved attending local campouts as well as enjoyed many years at Camp Gieger. He and his son, Randy, went to Philmont in 1974 and hiked many miles. Frank started his family tribe Mic-O-Say tradition and was given the name “Long Belt.” Frank and Shirley spent their winters in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico for over 25 years. While vacationing in Mexico for many years, their friendships grew into a second family. Their daughter, Diana, joined them during these adventures on many occasions.
His survivors include his wife Shirley of the home. One daughter Diana Chambers, grandsons Dustin Todd and wife Adriane, Jeremy Chambers and wife Robin, Matthew Chambers and wife Ashley and Derrick Todd and wife Shelby.
