Cynthia Kay Caldwell, age 69, of Trenton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Cyndie was born on October 30, 1955, in Trenton, Missouri, to Richard Babb and Loraine Kay Babb Gannon. She spent her early years in Blue Island, Illinois, before moving to Trenton in 1969. It was there she met the love of her life, Steve Caldwell. The two were married on October 14, 1973, beginning a beautiful journey of over 50 years together.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Cyndie found her greatest joy in sharing the gospel and singing about her faith.
Cyndie devoted many years to public service through her work with the Division of Family Services, from which she later retired. Her compassion and commitment made a lasting impact on those she served.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Babb; her mother, Loraine Kay Babb Gannon; her father-in-law, Leonard Caldwell; and her mother-in-law, Kathleen Caldwell.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Caldwell; her son Ben Caldwell (Brittany) of Kansas City, MO; and her daughter Crystal Hochwender (Curt) of Lawson, MO. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Kaitlyn Caldwell, Whitley Watkins (Payton), Gabrielle Hochwender, Callie Thompson, Allison Hochwender, and Miles Hochwender, as well as one great-grandchild, Blake Watkins.
Cyndie is also survived by her brother, Rick Babb (Dawn Fisher); her sister, JoEllen Maxey (Rick); her brothers-in-law Fred Caldwell and Paul Caldwell (Carla); her sister-in-law Kathy King (Glen); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Cyndie’s life was a beautiful reflection of her faith—filled with music, service, and love for others. Her voice and spirit will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
