Bonnie Lee Davis, a 90 year old, resident of The Villages, FL, died October 18, 2020 in Florida.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2020 at Newtown Cemetery in Newtown, MO. Memorial donations are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Newtown Baseball Association and mailed to P.O. Box 126, Newtown, MO.
Bonnie Lee Davis was born February 5, 1930 in Kirksville, MO to Cecil and Doris (Gummow) Wise. They moved to Galt and then Harris where She lived until attending college at the University of Missouri Columbia. On August 5, 1951 she was united in marriage to James Merrill Davis. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2018. They lived in Kansas City for five years where she taught Physical Education. Bonnie became head of the Physical Education Department of the Kansas City School District. In 1956 they moved to the farm near Lucerne.
Bonnie was adult leader in 4-H and spent many hours at the Newtown Ball Diamond. Bonnie taught 7-12th grade science at Newtown-Harris until she learned the game of golf. They farmed together and in 1967 won the American Royal 4 State Farm Family of the Year Award. Winter time became traveling south to golf and in 1989 they built a home in The Villages, FL.
Bonnie played golf, enjoyed bridge, and was a volunteer librarian at the Lady Lake Library.
Bonnie always had a smile and enjoyed friends stopping by.
Bonnie is survived by 3 children, Cecile Ann of The Villages, FL, James Walter of Green City, and Steven Lee of Lucerne, and one grandson, James Nicholas of Kirksville.
She is also survived by her sister in law Joslyn Wise and several nieces and nephews.
