Beverly Rae Whorton, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24th in Trenton, Missouri.
Beverly was born on July 29, 1942, the daughter of Wesley and Zelma Doughty in Ransom, LaSalle County, Illinois.
She, along with her family, moved to Missouri in 1950 to a farm east of Jamesport. She attended and graduated from Tri-County High School in 1960, where she was an active member of many musical and sports clubs. She attended Platte Business College in St. Joseph, MO, followed by employment at the Farm Loan Division of Metropolitan Insurance Company. She worked at Home Exchange Bank, while preparing for her wedding to Jim in 1964. She was a business and professional secretary until starting a family in 1969. She re-entered the workforce in the early 1980’s, including, along with her husband, started the Chub Lake Christmas Tree Farm in Northern Minnesota in 1985, which she continued to work until the end. She returned to the local area, in 1997, where she and Jim developed a used car-sales operation, Trenton Auto Sales. During that time, she operated a District Informational Office for Jim, and his efforts, as 3rd District State Representative. She remained steadfast to her musical talents, serving in various local community needs. She was a volunteer for several years in the delivery of the Meals on Wheels program.
She is survived by her husband Jim, sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Eric, Shelley & McKenna, and Grandchildren Madison, Drew Mendez, Wilder, and Coltrane; sisters, Marge Schapaugh, Trenton; Marilyn Dunn, Kearney, Elaine Anderson, Spokane, WA; and sister-in-law, Mildred Doughty, Chillicothe, brothers-in-law, Ray Dunn and Gary Whorton and many, beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Eugene and Merle Doughty; sisters, Rose-Anna Ramian, Kathryn Rissler, and her twin sister, Barbara.
Drive by visitation will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton, Missouri.
