Barbara Knudsen, 91 year old Trenton resident, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at her son’s residence in Grain Valley, MO.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton. Inurnment will follow in Trenton Cemetery. Lunch will be held at the church following short graveside remarks.
Memorial donations are suggested to Grundy County Jewett Norris library and may be left with Slater Neal Funeral Home of Trenton.
Barbara Knudsen was born March 5, 1930 in Trenton to Ernest and Jewell (Peery) Wilson. After high school, Barbara received her Registered Nursing degree from University of Kansas Nursing School. She worked in Dr. Cross’s office in Trenton as well as with a doctor’s office in Maryville, MO. On May 24, 1952 she was united in marriage to Richard Knudsen in San Luis Obispo, CA. They moved most recently back to Trenton in 1989. Barbara was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Daughters of the American Revolution, Beta Sigma Phi, Trenton Antique Club, and played with several bridge clubs. She also helped at the Thrift Store and worked at the Sheltered Workshop. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting.
Surviving relatives include her sons Bruce Knudsen and his significant other Khin Hnin Mu of Rochester, MN, Steve Knudsen and wife Kelly of Grain Valley, MO, and granddaughters Samantha Kempf and husband Mike, and Morgan Woolsey and husband Bobby, great grandchildren; Carter, Dylan, Emmett, Fletcher, Benjamin, Lillian and Evelyn, nephew Paul Cox and niece Cathie Lowrey and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister Bonnie Cox.
