Mr. Arthur L. “Arnie” Arneson, Jr., 92, a resident of Trenton, Missouri died at 3:45 A.M., Monday, July 14, 2025 at Sunnyview Nursing Home, Trenton, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Slater-Neal Funeral Home, Trenton, Missouri. Burial will be in Rural Dale Cemetery east of Trenton, Missouri.
Family visitation will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial to Major Dale Stepp Post NO. 31, American Legion and may be left with the funeral home.
Mr. Arneson was born June 6, 1933 in Newtown, Missouri the son of Arthur Lawrence and Ruby Maryetta Hartley Arneson. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1951. Attended Trenton Junior College, played American Legion and Ban Johnson baseball for several years. In June, 1953, he entered into military service and served primarily in Wildflecken, Germany. While in Germany, he played baseball and travelled throughout the country. He graduated from Ft Riley, Kansas Leadership School and from the Seventh Army Noncommissioned Officers Academy. He was discharged from the military in 1956 and returned to Trenton. After 6 months, he moved to California where he entered the banking industry, retiring after 41 years. In 1999 he moved back to Trenton.
The service clubs he was involved with were 20-30 Club of California, Colton, California Jaycees and Kiwanis, San Bernardino, California Elks Lodge. Big Bear Lake Elks Lodge and Rotary Club, Brookings, Oregon Elks Lodge and Rotary Club, Eureka, Calilfornia Rotary Club. Trenton Elks Lodge NO. 801 and Major Dale Stepp Post NO. 31 American Legion.
Civic, Charity and Social Organizations that Arnie was also involved in were Heart Fund, Colton and San Bernardino, Calif., Arrowhead United Way, YMCA Y-Indian Guides, Air Force Assoication, Boy Scouts of American, Big Bear, Calif. Heart Fund, Big Bear Old Miners’ Association, Big Bear Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Big Bear Park and Recreation District for 2 years, Big Bear High P.T.A. and other committees, American Institute of Banking Instructor, Brookings, Oregon Chamber of Commerce, Association of Northwest Steelheaders and Norton AFB Air Force Association.
On December 31, 2003 he married Colleen Vandevender at Trenton, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2012.
His survivors include two daughters Rhonda Delee Fleming and husband Jeff, Irvine, California, Cynthia Cheryl Prager and husband Joshua, Corona, California; one son Charles Martin Arneson and wife Ami, Brookings, Oregon; two sisters Delores Newton, Trenton, Missouri, Maryetta Dennis and husband Mike, Ozark, Missouri; five grandchildren Laura, Andy, Kristen, Tony, Angela; seven great grandchildren; one step-daughter Brenda Bailey and husband Larry, Jacksonville, Florida; one step-son Max Bennett, Jr. and wife Jenna, Jacksonville, Florida; two step-grandchildren Eric Bailey, Melanie Champayne; four step-great grandchildren; one niece and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Colleen.
